I hope each and every one of you has a safe, prosperous and happy New Year! Here’s to more and better in 2006!
the more they remain the same. Here’s (yet another) article on computer viruses and how rampant they’ve become. From the article:
There is clearly a battle being waged between computer companies and users and a small coterie of very clever vandals. It is not clear who will be the winner.
Here’s the kicker: The article was written in July 1986. There are more fascinating science articles at that same web site: The Science Corner, a collection of newspaper columns covering assorted scientific topics, authored by two scientists at the University of Guelph in the 80s. Via Me-Fi.

[nonsensical babbling] I want something I can’t have. But then, that begs the question of whether, if I had it, I would still want it as much — or even at all? Would obtaining* the thing that I want make me happy? I should say, “happier,” since I feel fairly happy now. Except for this one thing. That I can’t have.
You know? [/nonsensical babbling]
My dilemma reminds me of that old Aesop’s fable.
* This is such a poor choice of words here that it’s really not even funny. I can’t obtain it, I can only achieve it. Well, I actually CAN’T, since my inability to have/achieve/obtain it is what I’m whining about. But you get my point.
And I’m all atwitter about it. (Could the official launch of WP2 be far behind?) Go peek!
Well, it’s The Day After here. The dust has settled. Since Robert and I have no children, we don’t have to worry about too much devastation in the house. Well, actually, that’s not entirely true. You should SEE the kitchen. Because when I cook up a storm, I literally cook up a STORM. The roast pork with orange/cranberry glaze came out wonderful. So we’re having leftovers today.
… Foreigner once sang. This very astute blogger has some insightful observations about love, what it is — and more importantly, what it is not.
