Friday Five
It’s Friday somewhere in the world, even tho it’s still 20 minutes away here. Still, I want to get a jump on my Friday. Cuz the sooner Friday comes, the sooner Saturday comes right after it!

I downloaded Can’t Even Tell* by Soul Asylum, because it’s one of my favorite songs, from my all-time favorite movie, Clerks.
So I decided to go trolling for more of their music. I was delighted to find out that they also performed Runaway Train,** another song I really liked, but never could catch the song title or artist.
Grab em while you can. Oh, and the lead singer, Dave Pirner, recently released a solo album, Faces and Names. Check it.

Stolen shamelessly from under Quinn’s nose… Just what kind of an OS do you think I am anyway?

Anyone who knows me at all knows I don’t really follow politics too closely. I try to stay out of the musings of the pundits and war bloggers about these issues, since I try very hard not to write a whole lot about things I don’t understand.
But I was just thinking about something while I was shampooing my hair tonight while the President’s address was going on. Maybe someone who’s been following it a little more closely could answer this question for me.
I sense some irony in what’s going on with Iraq. From what I gather, Iraq is defying U.N. orders and that’s why we’re sniffing around over there. Did I hear/read correctly that President Bush is going to go ahead without the UN’s approval/blessing?
Okay, maybe this is oversimplifying things a bit, but what makes us better than Iraq? They apparently were violating UN orders. Won’t the US be doing the same thing if it follows through on its threat to stomp ass without UN approval? Just wondering.
The following was uttered by one of this nation’s statesmen. How true it is.
They tell us we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year … Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have us bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak, if we make a proper use of the means which the God of nature hath placed in our power… Besides, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave… Gentlemen may cry peace, peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun …
And the quote is over 200 years old.

I’m not sure exactly what use I’ll put this information to yet, but it may be handy to have (at least the machine serial numbers).

Here’s a little something to keep you busy until the game starts….
Bear in mind as you read that what may appear to be, initially, a high price could, in the long run, be very cost-effective for you. Plus,
Da bitch don’t talk back. (tee hee)
This is the second time in less than 24 hours that MisFitting (a/k/a The Misfit here) has caused me to run to my MT console to spew out a blog entry.
While we don’t seem to see eye to eye on a lot of things, I find her writing to be both insightful AND inciteful! She has a lot of ideas and opinions which she throws out for her readers to chew on.
Her post about a humorous e-mail she received reminded me of something that happened to me a long while back when I was single and “on the prowl.”
